For this step you will be modifying your transcription of your improvisational solo to compose a new melody.
Complete the following steps
1. Open your Finale file. It is named as ‘ finale file improvisational solo’ and your name. Save another copy of this file by clicking on ‘file’ and ‘save as’. Save it as ‘Improvisational solo modification’ and your name. You will use this file to modify the transcription of your improvisational solo to compose a new melody.
2. Open your Finale file. It is named as ‘ finale file improvisational solo’ and your name. Save another copy of this file by clicking on ‘file’ and ‘save as’. Save it as ‘Improvisational solo modification’ and your name. You will use this file to modify the transcription of your improvisational solo to compose a new melody.
3. Modify your transcription so it contains the following features,
A quarter of the pitches from your improvisational solo must stay the same. You may change the rhythmic value all the notes but a quarter of the pitches must stay the same.
Your modification must have pitches in the bass clef.
Your modification must have pitches in the treble clef.
There must be one highest note in your modification.
There must be one lowest note in your modification.
All notes used for your modification must be notes found in the C Hungarian Gypsy scale.
* Download the following file. It contains the list above with a square next to each feature. Tick the square next to features as you include them into your modification of your improvisational solo.
When you have ticked all squares on this file put your hand up.
Once I have confirmed that you have included all the features listed in your modification . Click on the play symbol and listen to your modification of your improvisational solo. If you are happy with the sound of what is now your composition, export your composition into an audio file.
*Export your composition in an audio file by completing the following steps 1. Click on 'file' 2. Click on 'Export to audio file...' 3. Name you file as 'My Composition' and your name. 4. Click save.
